A POPULAR family-run tea room on the North Yorkshire coast has applied for a new licence from the council.The top-rated Lighthouse Tea Room in Filey has submitted a new pavement licence proposal to North Yorkshire Council.The nautically themed establishment is rated as the second-best restaurant in Filey on TripAdvisor, where the long-running business has a score of 4.8 out of five.“We are a local family-run business offering the warmest of welcomes to all of our visitors. We pride ourselves on the finest home baking and freshly made breakfasts, brunch, lunch and afternoon teas served in the heart of Filey, a jewel on the Yorkshire coast,” the business’s website states.If the new pavement licence proposal is approved, the tea room will get permission to keep three tables and six chairs at 44 Belle Vue Street, Filey.The proposal is currently open to representations from members of the public.The business is “proud to source the majority of our ingredients locally, with bacon, cooked meats, crab, prawns and vegetables all sourced from local businesses in Filey”, while its cakes and scones are “freshly baked daily and our menu can be enjoyed in the warmth of our traditional tea room, at one of our outdoor tables or on the move”.
